Mike Lynch
|
Writer, "The Adam Carolla Show"

After graduating from Emerson College in Boston Mike spent several years bouncing between late night shows, interning, assisting the writers and freelance writing for "Politically Incorrect," "Saturday Night Live," "The Late Late Show with Craig Kilborn," and finally, "Jimmy Kimmel Live" where he met Adam. Kimmel then traded Mike to Adam’s show in exchange for some bagels and a ream of copy paper. Mike also worked as a writer for MTV's "The Andy Milonakis Show," which Adam co-produced, even though he doesn’t know it.
You ask “Adam is so funny, why does he have a writer? What the hell does Lynch do?” Good question, a-hole. Mike’s day on the Adam Carolla show starts at 4:30 am when he has to stop on the way in and pick up producer Angie’s dry cleaning, flavored coffee and twelve pack. Otherwise she hits him. She’s a mean drunk. That is immediately followed by a vigorous pre-show scalp massage for Bryan, it helps him think. Then it’s time to “talk Dawson down.” They have to focus on bumpers and bits, so Lynch has to convince Dawson that the stapler on his desk is not actually talking to him. When Adam gets in, Mike is required to feed him peeled grapes during the commercial breaks, fan him with peacock feathers during the broadcast, and walk in front of him, throwing rose petals to soften his every magic footstep. The day wraps up with one hour of free amateur therapy for Teresa. For Mike it is not only a job, it’s a lifestyle and an honor. |
